Some Lily; Some David; Some Whiskers

Here's what the gang have been up to lately. Lily and I went to Church Farm this past week with the preschool. She enjoyed patting some animals, but most of all, she enjoyed the AWESOME play area, particularly the sandpit. Check out the sand angel below...

David's class recently displayed their artwork in a local hall. Here you see James and David and their amazing buggy creature.

Yesterday was David's long-awaited UnBirthday Party. The theme: Doctor Who (if you don't know about Doctor Who, check out www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho).

The party: a blast for David, his 8 guests, and Lily. The activity level: overwhelmingly boisterous. Watching David and guests have a great time: priceless.

There was Doctor Who Pass the Parcel, Doctor Who MadLibs, non-Doctor Who Hide-and-Seek, Building of the TARDIS (most construction by Daddy), and a terrific Grab the Gift game. Refreshments were pizza, crisps, and Slitheen guts (jello with fruit in it), and a talking Dalek cake:

Here you see the kids, sitting still for about the only time in the afternoon, playing Pass the Parcel.

Check out that TARDIS!!

And now we come to Whiskers, the Cat Who Thinks He Lives Here. Whiskers became part of our holdings recently when Lily and I were hanging out in the garden. He came out of the bushes, where he'd been seen passing through, and was very affectionate with us. When we went in, he tried to follow, and took up residence outside on the windowsill for a few days. He's since moved on to comfier perches but still thinks he lives here.

Inquiries were made, and he is a long-term stray, obviously someone's cat once since he has been neutered. He feeds himself very handily on the local wildlife - ask me about Rabbitsfoot Twinkies sometime. David the Grownup wishes I would get the number of the cat rescue lady already, David the Child completely ignores his existence, and Lily and I rather enjoy him when we go out to play.

We don't feed him or allow him in the house because of David's terrible cat allergy, but he enjoys the padded lawnchair in the back porch, especially when it's raining out. Here's a view of Whiskers sunning on a garden bench, saying "Pet me. Meh. I shall drape myself all over you."

A teensy bit of catching up...

OK, so it's a BIG bit of catching up. Haven't blogged in quite a while, as in...since David got back in February! We've done lots of neat things, visited York (edited - did find the pics!) and been to London and other fun points. Here are a few pictures to entertain you...

Here's Lily - look who's 3! In the first picture, she's in the center and the kids are listening to a story in the garden. The massed preschoolers in the second picture are having tea with their teddies...and lots of mums to patrol the dining experience. A very nice, very busy birthday party, with 13 preschoolers and their mums in attendance.

David and the kids riding past the London Eye - we got to take a ride on this and it was awesome!! I have, literally, hundreds of pictures from London and trips around while Karyle (David's mom, not sister) was here, but there's no way I could even post the highlights. Sorry!

Backtracking to our York trip in February, here's young David with a random Roman..

To finish up, here's a really, really nice picture of a really, really nice kid!!
